Hi Mazen,
Your art and music are remarkable.
My friends Kurt and Chris told me about your blog... I spent much of tonight in Texas talking about Lebanon and about your work. You inspire me to keep writing. Thank you, my thoughts are with you.

Hi Mazen,
thank you for sharing your feelings with the rest of the world. It is so important that people outside of your shattered country get a hint what is really going on there. Too many people in my country (in Germany) believe the media and politicians repeating themselfes about Israels right to "defend" themselfes.

But maybe it gives some hope to see that yesterday 2500 people demonstrated in Bremen against the Israeli agression. Check this blog for pictures:

hello alessandro,
well, i most probably will answer this - or try to answer - in the drawings at some point. i ask myself a lot the question in fact, especially that i am the total anti-nationalist kind of guy.
all i can say it that my place is here for the moment. a lot of people would like to leave but cannot. and then leave for where? for what? it took me years to convince myself to stay in beirut after my school instead of going to live in paris like a lot of my friends. now that i am convinced, i think it's take a couple of years before the israeli air force can convince me to leave the country. unless they make me leave in a box.
anyways, i am sure this issue will raise up naturally in what i draw at some point.
just wait :)

well, we'll all leave in a fucking box someday anyways, so a box now or a box later...
anyways, i cannot explain really what it would be like to be in europe seeing beirut burning on tv on cnn. actually i cannot because i never tried it. and i am not ready to do so.
it is pretty weird to explain this obstination to stay here. even to myself. there are many reasons, but none is really valid. not even all together are valid maybe (if you compare to the possible loss of your life). anyways, for the time being i am still safe.
and will continue doing so.
until the box :)
